Ulun Danu Beratan temple is one of familiar temple in Bali because of its beauty of natural view on the edge of Danu Beratan Lake. The temple is located in Candi Kuning village, Baturiti District, Tabanan regency. It is 55 kilometers from Denpasar city and spends about an hour forty five minutes long. Besides, Ulun Danu Beratan temple has historical story. It becomes one of attractive tourism object which usually enlivened by local and foreign visitors every year.
Historically, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple was founded about 1634 B.C. by the King of Mengwi Kingdom I Gusti Agung Putu. It was founded after the winning of war between the King I Gusti Agung Putu against the King I Gusti Ngurah Batu Tumpeng. Besides, Ulun Danu Beratan temple is well known as a symbol of God Siwa and God Dewi Parwati. God Siwa as a symbol of Lingga, meanwhile God Dewi Parwati as a symbol of Yoni. Villagers believe that they are Gods of fertility. That becomes the reason of villagers to worship God Siwa and God Dewi Parwati for blessing their farming by irrigation.
In addition, Ulun Danu Beratan temple is an appropriate object for historical destination because there are some facts about foundation of the temple. The information of this historical fact can be found in some artifacts in megalithic era. Those findings show that the temple was founded for a worshipping place by archaic people.
